How to fix Internet Explorer proxy settings problems
If you use Internet Explorer to browse most of the time, chances are that you may end up having to deal with a few common problems from time to time. One of the most prevalent of these is finding that the browser keeps using a proxy server to send information over the Internet.
There are times when this can cause a number of problems. For instance, if the proxy server is down or when the address is wrong, it means that you will not be able to access the Internet, since the data is being routed through a machine that is not available. Fortunately, clearing the proxy settings from Internet Explorer is not very difficult to do, and you don’t need any expert help in order to get it done.
All you need to do is follow the steps below:
1. Click on “Control Panel” in Windows
2. Select the “Internet Options” item
3. Click on the tab marked “Connections” on the window that opens
4. Click on “LAN Settings”
5. Deselect the box with the label “Use a proxy server for your LAN”
The good thing about the Windows operating system is that even when upgrades to the OS are made, some of the most basic issues are not changed. This means that irrespective of the version of Windows you are using, you will be able to go through the steps above. If there are any changes, they will be very minimal, and you will not have any problem with them.
If it turns out that the steps above don’t solve the proxy issue, it might indicate that any internet connection problem might be due to another cause. In such cases, you might need to check whether you have a connection at all. You might also need to find out if the site you are visiting is being blocked by your computer’s firewall.
